EPF Calculator FAQs

Is the EPF interest rate fixed?

No. It is declared every financial year. Change the rate in the calculator to test different scenarios.

Does this include the pension (EPS)?

No. The EPS share goes towards a monthly pension and is not part of the EPF balance.

Is EPF interest taxable?

Interest is tax-free on contributions up to ₹2.5 lakh a year (₹5 lakh where the employer does not contribute). Interest on employee contributions above that limit is taxable each year.

Is an EPF withdrawal taxable?

Withdrawals after 5 years of continuous service are tax-free. Earlier withdrawals are generally taxable, and TDS applies above ₹50,000 if PAN is provided and no exemption applies.
