What changes the result

  • Inflation: at 6%, today’s expenses roughly quintuple over 28 years.
  • Years to retirement — each year of delay raises the SIP needed noticeably.
  • Returns before and after retirement, and how conservatively you invest once retired.
  • How long the money must last (life expectancy), and healthcare costs.
  • Other income such as EPF, NPS, rent or a pension, which reduces the corpus you need to build.

Retirement Calculator FAQs

Does this include EPF or pension income?

No. Subtract what EPF, NPS or other pensions will provide to see the remaining gap.

Why is the corpus so large?

Expenses keep rising with inflation during retirement too, and the corpus must fund them for decades. The calculator assumes withdrawals rise with inflation every year.

What life expectancy should I plan for?

Planning to 85 or 90 reduces the risk of outliving your savings. A longer plan needs a bigger corpus. These are illustrative estimates, not a recommendation. Actual results depend on the product, market conditions and your circumstances.
