The NSE and BSE equity markets trade from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm IST, Monday to Friday, with a pre-open session from 9:00 am to 9:15 am. Markets are closed on weekends and exchange holidays.
The Sensex tracks 30 large companies listed on the BSE, and the Nifty 50 tracks 50 large companies listed on the NSE. Both are weighted by free-float market capitalisation and are used as barometers of the Indian stock market.
